Cream Mixing Vessel Case Study

Technical situation:

Abbfab where approached by one of their clients to design and manufacture two 400 litre cream mixing vessels from stainless steel for a contract in the Netherlands. The vessels needed to be of a high standard of polishing internally and externally to allow ease of cleaning.

Our solution:

Abbfab Services closely liaised with the client to provide them with a vessel that met all their requirements, Computer Aided Design drawings were produced in-house and electronically sent to the client for the comments and approval.

The vessel was doubled skinned to allow cooling water to be passed around the inner mixing vessel to maintain the cream at the temperature stipulated by the client, this space was fitted with diverter rings to provide efficient flow of water and maximum cooling effect, the double skin extended over the conical bottom of the vessel.

The internal surface of the vessel had all welds ground off and polished to a minimum finish of 2J in accordance with EN10088-2 whilst the external surfaces also had all welds ground smooth and finished to the same grade finish.

The cooling jacket had a hydraulic test to guarantee its integrity and the inner vessel a static water test. The vessel was fitted with a two section hinged lid, the fixed portion fitted with a 360 degree fixed spray ball to enable Cleaning In Place.

The vessel stood on four tubular legs fitted with adjustable articulated feet, allowing the vessel to be  situated on uneven, sloping floor surfaces and then levelled using the adjustable feet. After final inspection by the client, the two vessels were wrapped and shipped from our works.
